Archbishop Carroll Edges Palmer Trinity In 3A-16 Semifinal

Chris Ortega went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and scored the go-ahead run to help second-seeded Archbishop Carroll beat third-seeded Palmer Trinity 5-4 in a 3A-16 semifinal Wednesday.

Willie Rogers went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, and Bryan Austin added a hit, drove in a run and walked twice for the Bulldogs (13-11), who qualified for the regionals for the third consecutive season and will face top-seeded Westminster Christian in the district final at 4 p.m. Friday.

Nick Font went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs for Palmer Trinity (14-7-2). Evan Steinman (run), Blake Miller, Jarrett Pico (run), Daniel Chumbley and Dustin Phillips had hits.
