Scott brings 6 years of MLB playing experience to the Krop coaching staff. Olsen was selected 173rd overall in the 6th round of the 2002 MLB Draft out of high school by the Florida Marlins. Scott had set the Marlins' rookie record for strikeouts in 2006 with 166 K's in 180 and 2/3 innings pitched (8.3 K's per 9 innings) that was broken in 2013 by Jose Fernandez. Olsen went 12-10 with a 4.06 ERA as a rookie in 2006. In 2007, Scott followed up with a team high 10 wins and chalked up another 133 K's in 176 and 2/3 innings pitched. Scott added another 8 wins in 2008 and posted his 3rd consecutive 100 strikeout season to begin his MLB career. Injuries hindered his progress as a pitcher after 2008 but he did go on to sign contracts with the Washington Nationals', Pittsburgh Pirates', Chicago White Sox', and Texas Rangers' organizations at one point or another. Scott is originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan but attended high school at Crystal Lake South High School in Crystal Lake, Illinois. |
