Highlights, Scores and Recaps for Thursday, April 21st, 2016

Gabriel Cruz hit the game-winning RBI double in the bottom of the eighth to lift South Dade to a 4-3 win over Killian in the 9A-16 championship. Willy Escala went 4-for-4 with two runs and two stolen bases, and Richie Sobalvarro drove in two for the Buccaneers (22-3), who won two in a row following back-to-back losses. Winning pitcher Kendrick Pico struck out seven and allowed two hits in five innings.

CJ Vasquez (two RBIs) and Alex Falla (HR, RBI) each had two hits as Belen Jesuit rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth to break a tie and lift the Wolverines to a 5-2 win over Doral Academy for the 7A-16 championship. Erick Wilson drove in two runs, and Albert Maury pitched one and two-thirds innings in relief to earn the win.

Robert Touron struck out seven in five innings to pace Gulliver Prep in a 9-1 win over Key West for the 5A-16 championship. Adrian Del Castillo had three hits, and Javy Valdes drove in three runs.

Mario Lopez allowed one run in a complete-game effort for Goleman in the the Gators’ 8-1 win over Miami Springs for the 6A-16 title. Michael Avendano went 3-for-3 with four RBIs for the Gators.
