Daily Recaps For Miami-Dade County For Friday, March 8th

St. Brendan has won just three games this year, but Friday’s win over Gulliver was a big one…


St. Brendan 11, Gulliver Prep 3 – David Plotkin struck out seven in four innings as the Sabres (3-6) beat the Raiders (3-5) in a District 4A-16 matchup. Jose Carera had two hits, including a grand slam, for four RBIs. Fabian Pena went 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI 2-2B, RBI. Gerson Sotolongo went 2-for-3 with two homes runs and four RBIs.

Hialeah 10, Miami Jackson 0 – Kevin Betancourt struck out 12 in a no-hitter for the Thoroughbreds (6-3). Arnaldo Brito went 2-for-4 with a double and RBI, and Nester Cortes went 1-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.

Archbishop Carroll 3, Braddock 0 – William Rogers drove in two runs to pace Archbishop in a match-up of Bulldogs. Danny Acevedo had an RBI and run, and Amilcar De Cesare went 2-for-2 with a run.

Coral Gables 2, TERRA Institute 1 – The Cavaliers (6-3) won their fourth in a row as JC Rodriguez limited the Wolves to two hits over his six innings on the mound. Coco Montes went 1-for-3 with an RBI, and Yoan Gonzalez went 2-for-3.

Killian 7, Vero Beach 5 – Nick Mire hit the game-winning, two-run double to lift the Cougars (8-2-1). Spencer Levine went 2-for-4, and Gil Polanco 2-for-3 with four stolen bases.

Doral Academy 8, Somerset 6 – Alejandro Juvier went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs as the Firebirds (6-4-1), who have won four in a row. Christian Hernandez went 2-for-4, with a run and RBI, and Christian Martinez 3-for-3 with a double and army.

Hialeah 10, Hialeah-Miami Lakes 0 – Alexis Herrera allowed three hits in five innings to lead the Thoroughbreds. Robert Carmona went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Carlos Reyes went 3-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI.

LaSalle 11, St. John 0 – Elier Rodriguez went 3-for-3 and Sergio Miyares homered for the Royal Lions (6-5).
