Daily Recaps For Miami-Dade County For Thursday, March 21st

Chris Mourelle pitched Southwest Miami past Sunset on Thursday on a big day across the county…


Southwest Miami 6, Miami Sunset 1 – Chris Mourelle pitched a complete-game four-hitter, striking out seven and allowing no earned runs for the Eagles (6-5-1), who bounced back from a tough loss to Columbus on Tuesday. Luis Gutierrez hit a grand slam, and Alex Perera went 3-for-3 with a walk.

Dade Christian 7, Miami Christian 4 – Winning pitcher Alex Perera went three and two-thirds innings, striking out five, and Anthony Munoz went 2-for-3 with a double and homer to pace the the Crusaders (6-7). Connor Morris and Anthony Martel doubled.

North Miami Beach 10, Carol City 0 – Alejandro Martinez paced the Chargers (2-7), pitching a no-hitter with nine strikeouts and also went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs. Juan Abbott drove in two runs, and Edduin Diaz went 1-for-1 with a run and two RBIs. Leroy Parker went 1-for-1, SB.


Miami Brito 11, Champagnat 1 – Marcos Bolanos doubled, drove in two runs, scored two and walked twice, and Josuan Suarez went 2-for-2 with two RBI as the Panthers (11-1) won their eighth straight. Andy Herrera went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Coral Gables 15, Miami Beach 2 – Orlando Rodriguez allowed no hits and struck out nine in four innings as the Cavaliers won their second in a row with the 8A-14 victory. Elih Marrero went 2-for-4 with a double, three runs and four RBIs. Alex Pinero went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Rolando Rodriguez went 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Yoan Gonzalez scored three times.

Miami Jackson 6, Booker T. Washington 3 – Ibrahim Silwany went 1-for-2 with two RBIs, and Francisco Brenes went 1-for-1 with a triple and two RBIs for the Generals. The game was called after four innings and will be completed at a later date.

American 13, Dr. Krop 1 – Kendrick Gutierrez went 3-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Roman Gonzalez went 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI to help the Patriots (11-2) win their second in a row with the 8A-13 victory. Ronnie Williams went 2-for-3 with two runs, and Kevin Williams went 2-for-4 with three RBIs.


Gulliver Prep 4, Westwood Christian 2 – The Raiders (7-7) scored all of their runs in the fifth as German Marcos went 1-for-1 with two RBIs and a run. Michael Gonzalez pitched five innings, allowing two hits and striking out nine. Luis Diaz led the Warriors (7-3-1), going 2-for-3 with a run, and Anthony Penas went 1-for-2 with two RBIs.


Westminster Christian 18, Doral Academy 1 – John Ruiz went 3-for-3 with four RBIs and three runs, and Luis Touron went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run for the Warriors (6-5-1). Julian Infante went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and two runs. Dakota Robbins and Jared Walsh drove in two each.


St. Brendan 10, Archbishop McCarthy 7 – Matt Diaz pitched four innings in relieft, allowing three hits, walking theree and striking out four for the Sabes. Jose Carrera went 2-for-3, and Danny Servin went 2-for-5 with an RBI. Miguel Ceballos went 2-for-3, Fabian Pena 2-for-5 with a grand slam and four RBIs and Henry Knez 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Ferguson 11, Braddock 1 – Javier Valdes went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and two RBIs, and Carlos Tapia had a bases-loaded double that drove in three runs. Chris Bec went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Victor Morrell scattered three hits and earned his fifth win of the season.

Killian 3, Palmetto 1 – Winning pitcher Ryan Granda tossed a three-hitter, and Joey Gonzalez went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a double for the Cougars (10-4-1). Mike Perez went 1-for-2 with an RBI.

South Miami 4, TERRA 3 – Armani Medina went 2-for-4 with two runs for the Cobras (6-7), who scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.


Belen Jesuit 8, Hialeah-Miami Lakes 6 – William Fabra pitched five innings, struck out six, allowed no runs and went 3-for-3 with two home runs and four RBIs for the Wolverines (10-3). Ryan Rodriguez-Mena went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI, and Robert Morgado struck out two in an inning pitched. Alex Cabrera went 1-for-2 with two runs.

Hialeah 7, Hialeah Gardens 1 – Adan Guiterrez pitched a complete game, striking out 11, and Kevin Betancourt went 3-for-4 with a home run and an RBI to pace the Thoroughbreds (9-3). Gilbert Maldonado went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Alan Silva went 2-for-3 with a stolen base.

Southridge 8, Coral Reef 2 – Osvaldo Garcia pitched a complete game, striking out eight. allowing four hits and two runs. Christian Khawam went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Josten Heron tripled. Alex Aguila drove in two runs.

Reagan 15, Miami Senior 5 – Paul Mendez led the way, going 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBIs, and Luis Rincon went 3-for-4. Sergio Santana (three RBIs), Yoandry Perez and Joe Diaz had two hits each.
