Coral Gables outlasted Reagan in a slugfest in 8A-14 on Tuesday….
Coral Gables 9, Reagan 7 – Kelvin Nunez went 2-for-2 with two runs, three RBIs, a double and a home run, and Elih Marrero went 2-for-3 with two runs for the Cavaliers (12-7) in matchup between the top two teams in 8A-14. Gables improved to 9-1 in the district, and Regan (9-8) fell to 7-3. Coco Montes went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs, and Franky Montesino went 2-for-3 with a run and RBI.
Belen Jesuit 4, Regis (Colo.) 2 – Alec Acosta doubled, drove in two runs and scored another, and David Villa and William Fabra brought in two runs to pace the Wolverines (14-4), who have won four in a row.
Archbishop Curley 5, Boca Christian 4 – Ezequiel Araujo went 2-for-4 with two triples as the Knights won just their second game this season to improve to 2-16-1.
Hialeah-Miami Lakes 15, Norland 5 – Sensi Jarvis had five hits to power the Trojans (6-7) as they got back into the win column in 6A-16 matchup.
Miami Brito 8, Hialeah Gardens 7 – The Panthers (14-3) staved off a late rally by the Gladiators (7-10) to win their second in a two as Andres Herrrera went 2-for-4 with an RBI and run. Marco Bolanoes went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, and Juan Carlos Millan had a hit, a walk and two runs.
Palmer Trinity 11, Somerset Academy Charter 0 – Justin Ziegelasch went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Blake Miller went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run to lead help the Falcons (9-8) get over the .500 mark with the 3A-16 win.
Doral Academy 3, American 2 – Carlos Pino went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run, and Christian Martinez went 2-for-3 for the Firebirds (10-9-1). Alejandro Juvier doubled and scored.
South Miami 4, Braddock 1 – Ernesto Romero pitched a complete game to pick up his third victory as he scattered five hits while striking out two to pace the Cobras (7-11) in the 8A-15 matchup. Ricky De Armes, Kevin Polo, Kendrick Garcia and Armando Prieto had hits and scored.
Ransom Everglades 7, Miami Country Day 2 – Chris Rossi allowed one earned run and struck out four in five innings pitched for the Raiders (7-9), who have won three of their past four after a 1-6 stretch. Matt Heisenbottle drove in three runs, and Royeven Armas went 2-for-4 with a run and RBI. Davind Lanster went 3-for-4 with a double, run and four stolen bases.
Southwest Miami 7, Southridge 1 – Carlos Pena went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Luis Gutierrez went 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a run for the Eagles (9-7-1).
