Vipers reliever Nick Leon pitched four and two-third innings of shutout ball and Tony Mejias was 3-for-3 with three RBIs to lead Varela to the upset victory over top-ranked South Dade.

Ryan Granda threw a complete-game four-hitter to pace the Cougars, who improved to 10-3. Spencer Levine hit his sixth homer of the season, and Eddie Demurias homered and scored twice. Ryan Sabbag went 2-for-4.

Miguel Gonzales went 1-for-2 with a double and drove in two runs, and Anthony Gonzalez and David Salgueiro each had a hit and scored.

Danilo De Armas led the Knights from the mound as he improved to 3-2. Robert Hernandez went 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI, and Alfredo Iser tripled and drove in three runs. Herbert Iser went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, while Frank Perez was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

John Gonzalez improved to 3-1 as he struck out five in five innings to lead Westminster to its seventh in a row. Ryan Terry tossed two innings and struck out two. Cole Krueter went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run, his third of the year. Jacob Zarello and Dakota Robbins also had hits.

Belen's Christian Del Castillo went 4-4, with a double, two RBIs, and two runs scored to pace the Wolverines. Alex Cabrera went 2-3, with three runs scored, while David Guevara went 2-5, with 4 RBIs, and two runs scored. Pablo Arevelo went five innings with seven strikeouts for Belen.

The Patriots pulled out late-game heroics, with two in the eighth to defeat the Spartans. Michael Rodriguez went 2-2, with a solo home run, and George Iza went 2-4 for Florida Christian.
