Community Uniting For HSBN Holiday Toy Drive
At High School Baseball Network, it has been one of our missions since day one to give back to the community. This year, we have launched our inaugural community toy drive to help give less fortunate children here in South Florida a holiday season to remember.
HSBN began collecting toys on November 1st and will continue until December 13th. This year, our goal is to raise over 500 unopened and unwrapped toys that will be delivered to several local organizations including, but not limited to, The Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital and Kids in Distress.
Numerous collection sites around South Florida have been established, including at the Bofshever Chiropractice Center, the office of sponsor Dr. Gary Bofshever.
“Bofshever Chiropractic Center is so excited to be involved in the toy drive as a collection site and getting our patients to pitch in,” said Dr. Gary Bofshever. “Any time you have a chance to contribute to child’s happiness is a blessing. Thank you HSBN for all you do.”
Among the other collection spots are several local baseball programs, such as Belen Jesuit, Coral Gables, Jupiter, Monarch, Plantation and South Broward. Several local businesses have also stepped forward to participate, including Cecilie’s Gourmet Italian Ice, Guido’s Restaurant ‘N Pizzeria, Your Community Newspapers and NDM Images.
As news first spread about the HSBN Holiday Toy Drive, members of the baseball community across South Florida have been quick to rally their support. When the Plantation baseball team first heard of the drive, they immediately volunteered to join in. Like many other area teams, Colonels Manager Manny Aguilar appreciates the chance for his team to make an impact in areas besides just baseball.
“We at Plantation are fortunate to have good health, a roof over our heads and a loving family both on and off the field,” Aguilar said. “Our key to success is Family First and then baseball. During the holidays when we gather with our families we will come together and help those that are less fortunate by giving back to our community. Taking care of the little things is our motto as a baseball team and we plan on living by that.”
Baseball is a game that teaches one how to improve only when those around you also improve. To be selfless is to succeed, just as the true way to embrace the Christmas spirit is to give rather than receive. HSBN continues to work to build a stronger and more united community, and we appreciate your support!
