Erik Lago had just one hit Saturday, but he made it count as he drove in the winning run to give Palmetto a 5-4 win over Southwest Miami for the Battle of the South championship. The Panthers, who stayed unbeaten at 3-0, needed a three-run rally to overcome the 4-2 lead the Eagles took in the third. The Battle of the South was just one of a few tournaments wrapping up Saturday. In the Pro Grounds Invitational, Mater Academy beat Hialeah 8-3 for its third consecutive win, and TERRA edged American 1-0. Columbus improved to 3-0 with its 7-4 win over St. Thomas Aquinas in the championship of the Falcons Classic at Flanagan.
