Eddie Escribano struck out six in six and two-thirds innings in Doral Academy’s 6-4 win over Mater Academy on Thursday in the 6A-16 championship. Nelson Montilla went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs for the Firebirds, who won their 11th in a row.

Giovanni Arriera tossed a complete game, striking out 11 to lead Westland Hialeah to a 2-1 win over Reagan in a 7A-16 semifinal. The Wildcats will compete in today’s championship against the winner of the North Miami Beach-American game being played right before the title game.

Dylan Cloonan struck out 12 in just four innings, and Nick Auerbacher came in for an inning of relief and followed right in his footsteps, fanning three of his own as the pair combined for a no-hitter to guide Westminster Christian past Marathon 12-0 in 3A-16. Adrian Mayans went 3-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs, and Julian Infante went 3-for-3 with a home run and five RBIs. The Warriors will play Palmer Trinity in this afternoon’s championship.

Miami Brito beat Miami Christian 6-4 in the 2A-15 championship.
