Highlights, Scores and Recaps for Thursday, February 18th, 2016

Alex Falla drove in the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth inning and Belen held on to beat Doral Academy 3-2 in a 7A-16 game Thursday. Albert Maury struck out 10 and allowed two hits in six innings for the Wolverines (3-1), who rebounded from Monday’s loss to Monsignor Pace. CJ Vazquez went 2-for-3 with a run, and Julio Aira went 2-for-3 with a double. Falla also scored.

In control all game up until the top of the seventh inning, Gulliver Prep suddenly found its back to the wall after allowing three runs and having to rally for four of their own in the bottom of the inning to win 6-3. Raymond Gil had the winning hit, and Javy Valdes drove in two runs. Robert Touron pitched a complete game for the win.

Miami Springs upset Southridge 3-2 behind winning pitcher Dylan Carter’s solid six innings. Orlando Borotto closed it to preserve the win and also hit an RBI single. Roger Hernandez went 2-for-3. The Golden Hawks improved to 2-2 while the Spartans fell to 4-1.

Rene Arauz pitched a one-hitter and struck out 10 as Mater Lakes Academy downed LaSalle 2-0 in a 5A-15 game.
