Highlights, Scores and Recaps for Friday, March 18th, 2016

Top-ranked South Dade extended its winning streak to eight games as it beat Southridge 3-1 in a 9A-16 game Friday. Gabriel Cruz went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Joel Rivero and Jhan Barrios drove in a run each for the Buccaneers (12-1), who are tied for first in the district at 6-1. Kendrick Pico struck out five in three and one-third innings, allowing one hit.

In another 9A-16 game, Palmetto beat Homestead 8-2 as Carl Heldt (RBI), Chris Gulino (run, RBI) and Tyler (run, RBI) each had a pair of hits. The Panthers (9-3) are on a six-game winning streak.

Southwest Miami won its second in a row as Marcus Rabel fired a two-hitter to lead the Eagles to a 11-1 win over Braddock in 9A-15. Danny Cruz went 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBIs, and Jason Grana went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for the Eagles (6-8, 5-2). Lewis Romero and Enrique Aparicio drove in two runs each.
