Jimmy Heyworth went 2-for-3 with a double and run as Archbishop Carroll staved off an upset bid by Southwest Miami to win 2-1 on Monday. Lizandro Echemendia went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Alex Gonzalez had a hit and run for the Bulldogs (12-3).

Palmetto won its seventh in a row as it opened play in the Sarasota Classic with a 9-2 win over Braden River. The Panthers (10-3) take on Sarasota (11-2) tonight.

Coral Gables snapped a three-game losing streak, defeating Runnela, La. 7-6.
