Highlights, Scores and Recaps for Thursday, March 24th, 2016

Top-ranked South Dade began play in the Perfect Game Rawlings Select Classic in Emerson, Ga., by defeating Enterprise 5-4 on Thursday. Winning pitcher Alek Menoah pitched three innings, allowing two hits while striking out two for the Buccaneers (13-1), who scored two in the fifth to break a 2-2 tie en route to their ninth consecutive win. Kendrick Pico tossed four innings, striking out four. Richie Sobalvarro went 3-for-4 with a home run and RBI, and Gabriel Cruz had a hit and drove in two runs.

Justin Sutta pitched five strong innings, and Keaton Zargham went 5-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs and an RBI for Palmetto in a 13-4 win over Cardinal Mooney in the Sarasota Classic. Dickson Aburto went 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs, and Tyler Arp added two hits, including a triple, drove in two runs and scored.

Doral Academy, ranked 14th, won its second in a row in the Sarasota Classic, defeating Bartow 5-3 as Edgar Chavero got the win, pitching two and two-thirds innings, allowing four hits. Michael Marin tossed one inning, striking out one for the Firebirds (12-7). Brian Perez and Adrian Figuero each doubled and drove in two runs.
