Highlights, Scores and Recaps for Tuesday, March 22nd, 2016

Jason Grana won his fifth game of the year and second against Columbus as he allowed three hits and struck out seven in Southwest Miami’s 3-1 win Tuesday in 9A-15. Brett Mentranas (2B) and Danny Cruz each had two hits for the Eagles (7-9, 6-2), who scored two in the top of the seventh to break a 1-1 tie. Pablo Mendez doubled.

Sometimes getting out of town can do wonders. It sure has for Coral Gables, which won its second in row on the road after a three-game skid. The Cavaliers beat Louisville, Mississippi 8-5 after taking a commanding eight-run lead in the top of the sixth and holding on to win as Louisville rallied in the final two innings. Tyler Santana struck out eight in four innings, and Frank Fernandez struck out another in relief for the Cavaliers (7-10). Jordan Morina went 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI, and Gerardo Rodriguez added two hits. Elijah Eusebio went 1-for-1 with an RBI, run and two walks, and Nico Montes doubled and tripled.

John Kenney got the win as Florida Christian rallied for a run in the bottom of the eighth to beat Largo 6-5 in the IMG National Classic in Bradenton.
