Highlights, Scores and Recaps for Wednesday, March 23rd, 2016

Florida Christian scored three runs in the first inning and held on to win 4-2 against Berkeley Prep, the top-ranked team in the Tampa area, in the IMG National Classic in Bradenton. Christian Coipel earned the win for the Patriots (12-4).

Westminster Christian took a two-run lead in the top of the third and went on to defeat Lakewood Ranch 4-3 in the Sarasota Classic. Sam Fernandez earned the win, pitching five and one-third innings for the Warriors (16-2-1). Max Pinto went 2-for-3 with two runs, and Alvaro Valdez went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Doral Academy got its first win in the Sarasota Classic after losses the first two days, rallying for three runs in the second and two in the fifth to beat Lyman 5-3. Eddy Cruz went 1-for-2 with an RBI, and Michael Marin also had a hit, scored and drove in a run for the Firebirds (11-7). Jose Ulloa pitched five and two-thirds innings, allowing three hits while striking out three and walking two.
