Highlights, Scores and Recaps for Wednesday, April 6th, 2016

Eric Wilson had a hit and scored in the first inning for Belen Jesuit, which hung on to win 1-0 over TERRA in a 7A-16 game Wednesday. Gabriel Gonzalez allowed three hits and struck out six in six and one-third innings, and Albert Maury had a strikeout as he finished the game for the Wolverines (11-11, 5-1), who broke a three-game losing streak. Kevin Martin also had a hit.

Daniel Irisarri (run, two stolen bases), Daniel Esquivel (triple, run, three RBIs) and Enrique Cabrera (double, RBI) had hits as Ferguson rallied for four runs in the top of the seventh to defeat Varela in a 9A-15 game. Winning pitcher Alejandro Vieiro struck out eight in five innings, and Jonathon Menendez fanned another four in the final two innings as the Falcons (8-10) won their fourth in a row.

Doral Academy broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the bottom of the fourth and held on to win 2-0 over Miami Sunset in a battle for second place in 7A-16. Oscar Trujillo struck out nine in six and two-thirds innings, allowing one hit, and Jorge Perez came in to close to strike out another for the Firebirds (15-8, 3-3). Lency Delgado went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs, and Gabby Gutierrrez added two hits, stole two bases and scored.
