Hialeah Walks Off Palmetto In GMAC Tournament

Javier Betancourt’s RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning gave Hialeah a walk-off, 8-7 victory over Palmetto in the opening round of the GMAC Tournament on Monday. Hialeah will now face Columbus, after the Explorers defeated Goleman 4-1 in another GMAC quarterfinal.

Betancourt finished 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBIs. Gregory Rosario was 5-for-5 with a double and two runs scored, and Adrian Gomez went 4-for-5 with a run. Luis Leyva pitched five-and-a-third shutout relief innings, allowing two singles, while striking out six for the victory.

Killian and Coral Park both also won to advance to face off on the other side of the bracket.
