Braddock’s Marcello Torres slugged a pair of home runs to lead the Bulldogs to big 16-4 win over the Coral Reef Barracudas on Thursday afternoon. Torres connected for a three-run shot in the bottom of the first that erased a 2-0 hole to give Braddock (2-1-1) the lead for good. The senior, four-year starter then capped the team’s big day with another three-run shot in the bottom of the sixth that walked it off via the mercy rule.
Torres was 3-for-4 overall.
Brothers Andrew and Adam Sarmiento both added a home run as well. Andrew Sarmiento went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs.
Coral Reef (0-5) battled back to make it a 5-4 game in the top of the third, but was unable to pull any closer. Marcus Garcia went 2-for-2 and reached base four times to lead the offense.
