Miami Brito Wins First District Title In 10 Years

Brito Players Celebrate District Title!
While the last Brito district champions were celebrating victory ten years ago, in some long ago ballparks, batting cages and backyards, the members of the 2025 Miami Brito Panthers were there learning the game. On Wednesday afternoon, those players got the job done and made all Brito fans forget that it had been a decade since the last.
Brito survived a tug-of-war battle for a 6-5 win over the Schoolhouse Prep Wolfpack to win the District 1A-16 championship. It is the twelfth district trophy in program history, and the first since the 2015 season, when the Panthers went on to win their seventh state title.
“I’m very proud of my guys, they deserve this achievement,” Brito Manager Pedro Guerra said. “It has been a rough season for us, but they came back strong at the end, and played with their hearts to win this district championship.”
Much like the season itself, things did not start well, but Brito had its best at the end of the game. Schoolhouse Prep jumped out to an early lead behind a pair of runs in the second, and another in the second. But the Panthers (9-14) rallied back, getting on the board with a run in the third, before a five-run fourth inning catapulted them into the lead.
Sophomore Raivon Pinder was a force from the leadoff spot, going 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs to provide a spark. Samuel Castro had a two-RBI double, and Cristopher Guzman went 2-for-3.
