Miami Christian Reclaims 1A-16 District Title

Miami Christian has grown accustomed to being the top program in 1A-16. The Victors, won three straight district titles from 2022-2024. Then 2025 came along, and suddenly Miami Christian’s run came to an end, as they gave up the district crown to Miami Brito.
Early in 2026, it looked like the Victors may be headed for a similar fate. They started the year 7-7, and at one point fell to 12-11. But as most championship programs do, the Victors got hot down the stretch, and won four of their last five.
Their latest win on Friday night, 4-3 over Schoolhouse Prep, secured the district title for Miami Christian.
“I am really proud of this team,” said Manager Chris Cuadra. “We have a really young team, and they have been through a lot this year. They have been very resilient, and battled tested coming out of our trip to Vegas a couple weeks ago. We are very happy to be bringing the hardware back to Miami Christian.”
The title game featured a strong pitching performance from the three-headed monster of Adrian Medina, Moises Lezama, and Luis Mijares. Medina went the first four innings, allowing only our hits and one run. Lezama threw 2/3, and then Mijares closed out the final 2.1, allowing one run and striking out five.
“Their offense challenged us a ew time during the game, but all of our pitchers did a good job of battling through and getting out of some jams,” said Cuadra.
Offensively it was Fabrizio Sangroniz who carried the team, going 2-for-3, with a home run and two RBIs.
The Wolfpack actually outhit the Victors on the day, 7-6, but in the kep moments, Miami Christian batters came through.
Each team made two errors.
While the district championship is always nice, Miami Christian is one of the South Florida programs that measures themselves by state titles. The Victors have won three titles under Cuadra, and are looking for number four.
“We have goals at the beginning of the year, and one of those goals is always the district title. We accomplished that today. Now we have to get ready to make a long run through the regionals,” said Cuadra. “This team has gotten better as the season has gone on. I am proud of them for that, and I think our best baseball is still in front of us.”
The two teams will now both await their regional quarterfinal opponents for next weekend, when the final rankings come out on Saturday.
