South Dade regains the lead in 8A District 16 after a big afternoon from David Lebron on the mound to beat the Palmetto Panthers 6-3.

Alexis Herrera pitched a complete-game one-hitter and Alian Silva made plays in the field and at the plate for the Thoroughbreds in a slim win over the first-place Panthers.

Palmetto got another strong performance from Brandon Kacer, who did well on the mound and energized his team at the plate.

Coral Reef visited the Palmetto Panthers on their home field for the “Mayor’s Cup” and came home empty handed as the Panthers rallied to win in eight innings.

The Palmetto Panthers needed nine innings before they were able to put this district game against the Southridge Spartans to rest, ultimately winning 5-2.

Delgado knocks in two, and Kacer deals complete game as Palmetto outlasts Varela 8-5 on Tuesday afternoon. The Panthers plated four runs in the sixth to win the game.

Ferguson Falcon’s head coach Jose Novas and his team are no strangers to coming back late in games and it was no different Saturday afternoon against Palmetto.

It’s anybody’s game in an evenly matched District 16-8A that includes some of Miami-Dade’s perennial powerhouse teams.
