South Miami rode a big five-run second inning and a dominant performance from starter Danny Garmendia for a 6-1 win over Braddock in District 8A-15 action Tuesday afternoon.

Many of the schools in this district have a defense that should make them contenders. Close games could be the norm.

Ferguson secured the top seed in 8A District 15 by beating Braddock 4-0 on Thursday. The win gave the Falcons momentum as they’re trying to win their third consecutive district title.

The Southwest Miami Eagles were able to shut down the bats of the Braddock Bulldogs on Thursday afternoon behind the arm of starting pitcher Fernando Rabel.

Some consider District 15-8A the most competitive in the state. Ferguson looks to win another district title, but faces rivals with high expectations.
